Igniting Joy with Toys
More than 116,000 children suffer from a fire/burn related incident each year, hundreds coming from southern Nevada. Studies suggest that those children may experience long-term psychological problems, including anxiety, depression, and difficulties with social functioning.
Firefighters bear witness to these tragedies and see the physical and emotional toll the ravaging effects of fire has on families. They decided it was time to go beyond their call of duty to help, and the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation was born.
This amazing foundation boasts active fire department personnel offering support to victims of fire and other tragic events. They raise money to send more children burn victims to burn camps, get the counseling they need and help reintegrate them back into a school environment.
Beyond that, each December the foundation collects toys for disadvantaged or underserved children across the valley. For more than 16 years they have helped ignite hope and joy in thousands of deserving children during the holidays.
And 2020 will be no different.
